📖 Getting Started

1. Grant Microphone Permission

Tap the microphone button on the main screen
When prompted, tap "Allow" to grant microphone access
This permission is required for voice translation to work

2. Select Your Languages

Tap on the source language (left side) to choose what language you'll speak
Tap on the target language (right side) to choose the translation language
Use the ⇄ button to quickly swap languages

3. Start Translating

Tap the large circular microphone button
Speak clearly in your selected language
Wait for the translation to appear
The translation will automatically be spoken aloud

💬 Conversation Mode

For real-time back-and-forth conversations:

Tap the 💬 Conversation Mode button
Speak your phrase and wait for translation
Hand the phone to the other person
They can tap the mic and respond in their language
You can switch between continous and manual for translations
The conversation is saved in the chat history

🔍 Auto-Detect Language

Don't know what language someone is speaking?

Tap the source language (left side)
Select 🔍 Auto-Detect from the menu
GRIOT will automatically identify the spoken language
Perfect for multi-language environments

📦 Offline Mode

Common phrases work without internet:

Greetings (Hello, Good morning, etc.)
Basic phrases (Thank you, Please, Yes, No)
Essential questions (How are you?, How much?)
Emergency phrases (I need help, Where is...?)

Look for the Works Offline badge on translations.

💳 Managing Your Subscription:

Go to Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions on your iPhone
Select GRIOT
Manage, upgrade, or cancel your subscription

🔄 Restore Purchases:

If you reinstalled GRIOT or changed devices:

Open GRIOT
Tap Upgrade or the premium badge
Tap Restore Purchases
Your subscription will be restored automatically

⚠️ Subscription Notes:

Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled 24 hours before renewal
Cancel anytime - you keep premium access until expiration
No refunds for partial periods
Lifetime purchase = one-time payment, never pay again!

🔧 Troubleshooting

❓ App isn't hearing me / Microphone not working

Solution:

Go to Settings → GRIOT → Microphone
Make sure it's set to Allow
Restart the app
Ensure your device microphone isn't blocked or damaged

❓ Translation isn't appearing

Solution:

Check your internet connection (required for most translations)
Try offline mode for common phrases
Speak more clearly and slowly
Reduce background noise
Ensure the correct languages are selected

❓ Audio translation not playing

Solution:

Check your device volume
Make sure Silent Mode is off
Try tapping the 🔊 Play Again button
Restart the app

❓ Translation quality is poor

Solution:

Ensure stable internet connection
Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
Minimize background noise
Use simple, clear sentences

❓ App is slow or freezing

Solution:

Close other running apps
Restart GRIOT
Restart your device
Check for app updates in the App Store
